Overview

Michael is a highly experienced conflict resolution trainer having designed and delivered many conflict resolution training workshops and courses for government, corporations, military and law enforcement agencies, human resources and union organizations. Michael has previous experience as the director of a Canadian federal government mediation centre, where he was responsible for introducing the department’s workplace conflict resolution training program and supervising a team of mediators and trainers. Michael has been the lead trainer or co-trainer on many conflict resolution courses and in addition to delivery of the course material, Michael has been a key player in the course design and method of training delivery

Michael is the only Canadian Associate Speaker/Trainer with the High Conflict Institute in San Diego, CA, and he regularly presents workshops across Canada on managing High Conflict Personalities.

High Conflict Institute was co-founded by Bill Eddy, LCSW, Esq., to provide conflict resolution training to professionals and consumers who find themselves handling High Conflict situations. After years of working with High Conflict disputes in many settings, we came to the conclusion that these disputes are not driven by complex issues, but by High Conflict Personalities. Managing High Conflict People (HCPs) usually involves using skills which are the opposite of what one feels like doing. Learning these skills takes time and practice, but can make an amazing difference in resolving, managing and containing High Conflict disputes.

“I recently attended your workshop on Proposal Focused Mediation and today I conducted a high profile workplace mediation where everyone involved thanked me and commented on my excellent mediation skills.  I wanted to let you know that the success (and my skills) were a direct result of the workshop.  This has totally changed how I mediate and I don’t know how I managed to do the work prior to the training.  Thanks so much.” – Brenda McCreight, RSW

“I have been attending conferences for 25 years, and I must say that this is one of the best workshops to date. The practical training and opportunity to participate is invaluable.” – Course Participant
